The client, a very famous tableware manufacturer from Europe, nominated us as a local representative to find an appropriate distributor in Japan in 2015. The client has already established its subsidiary in Japan, which only has distribution channels to retailers such as department stores, gift shops, etc. but it doesn’t cover the new target industry that the client wanted to develop.
The project started in November, 2016 and consisted of 3 stages as follows:
1. Research to identify potential distributors
2. Contact, pre-screen and arrange meetings with potential distributors
3. Meetings with potential distributors
Approx. 20 companies were identified and contacted by our trade manager. After screening process, finally 3 meetings were arranged in Tokyo, late-January as the first round. Through the second and third round meetings in March and May accordingly, the client screened them to two companies to have final negotiations. The client is happy with our service and its result and now under final negotiations with the two companies directly.
